H2o Labs Model 200

Unit will not turn on: (And red LED light is OFF.)

  • On/Reset switch not in proper position. Set to "ON".

  • Power Cord not plugged into house outlet or house circuit breaker has tripped. Plug in or reset outlet, power strip or household breaker.

Fan will not turn on: (And red LED light is ON.)

  • Fill Tap Water Container if empty.

  • Tap Water Container not properly positioned. Lift container and make sure it seats properly.

  • If the water Boiling Tray is not completely filled, press the switch to "OFF" and wait for the red light to turn off, (indicating that the tray has filled), and then press the switch to "ON".

  • Main Unit is tilted or lifted from the Base. Lift and make sure it seats properly. (If necessary, see "Main unit not positioned level on the base" below.

  • Unit may have to be reset. To reset: Push the "Off-On/Reset" switch to the "Off" position; Wait a few seconds until the red light turns off; Then push the "Off-On/Reset" button to the "On/Reset" position. Note: If "Off-On/Reset" button is returned to "On/Reset" before the red light turns off, the appliance will not operate.

Unit is on but water is not being made:

  • If the fan is on, wait 20 minutes for the water to begin boiling. Water will then begin dripping into the collection container.

  • If Boiling Tray has not filled. Check to see if Tap Water Container Cap/Valve is disbursing water to the Boiling Tray. If Tap Water Container Cap/Valve stem is slanted, hold rubber washer and straighten or adjust the stem for proper water flow. Replace Cap/Valve if it is defective or has worn out.

  • If the fan is off, see "Fan will not turn on" above.

Unit shuts off too soon:

  • Tap Water Container outlet is blocked or the Tap Water Container is not seated in the proper position. Inspect and reposition.

  • If household power has failed, the unit may need to be manually reset to resume operation after power is restored.

Water leaking on counter:

  • Carbon clumped together in the Activated Carbon Pod. Tap and shake Pod vigorously until carbon granules are no longer stuck together. If necessary, insert a clean paper clip into the pod to help separate the granules.

Main unit not positioned level on the base:

  • Infrared Anti-Scale Pad not installed inside the Heating Element Housing properly. Position the pad just inside the heating element housing. If the pad does not fit inside the housing, bow it slightly and tuck it in.

Water has a slight but discernable taste:

  • Due to the brand new materials used to manufacture the unit, you may perceive a "new smell" or slight taste from the first couple cycles or so. However, the water is completely pure and safe to consume. As the unit is used and cleaned over time, the new smell or taste will dissipate. After the first few cycles there should be hardly any taste at all and in fact at that point it will "taste" better than any other filtered or bottled water.

Water continues to have a significantly unpleasant taste:

  • The distiller has VOC, (volatile organic compound), venting in the condensing coil that is usually sufficient to exhaust any VOCs before they can enter the distilled water. Also the activated carbon pod is a secondary defense in removing any residual VOC smell or taste. However in some parts of the country the pollutants and VOCs are so bad that they can boil off during the distillation cycle and it is possible that the resulting vapor can get into the distilled water. This can cause a very noticeable smell and/or taste. Although the distilled water is much purer than the original source water, some people may find the taste and odor objectionable.

The way to deal with this problem is to pre-filter the source water using a good quality carbon filter. Although carbon filters do not remove very many contaminants from the water, they are very effective in eliminating VOCs and improving the taste and smell of water. Therefore it would be appropriate to use a good quality carbon filter to pre-filter the source water before distilling it which will help to reduce these stubborn VOCs and improve the taste and smell of the distilled water.
